Although the Surgeon performed a pre-treatment evaluation of the patient to establish a predictable treatment outcome, you should also perform your own.

Recommended Steps

  • Take intra and extra-oral pictures. Be sure to take the extra-oral photos of the patient at repose, smiling, and exaggerated.
  • Perform intra- and extra-oral examination.
  • Perform full new patient examination.
  • Analyze patient’s oral hygiene compliance.
  • Thoroughly review patient medical history, inquiring about habits such as, but not limited to, clenching, bruxism, and drug use.
  • Make alginate impressions.
  • Create jaw relation record and orientation record for maxillary arch.
  • Measure lip position at maximum smile.
  • Determine maxillary midline position and maxillary central incisal edge position.
  • Evaluate bone reduction for restorative space and transition line.
  • Consider long-term post-operative care and maintenance.
